Qualifications:
High school diploma
Physical ability to perform job duties
Must have great attendance record
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Knowledge and ability to operate kitchen equipment in an institutional setting
Basic knowledge of kitchen sanitation procedures in a school, institution or commercial business
Prefer previous experience in quantity food production in a school, institution or commercial business
Prefer previous experience operating a cash register or point of sale system
Knowledge of basic computer skills
Must sign a Confidentiality Agreement
Must sign a Technology Agreement
Must be available and able to perform job duties
Must have an excellent work record
Description:
Requires completion of a Serv Safe Certification within 90 days of hire
Submits food, beverage and supply orders in a timely manner to the kitchen manager or cook
Inventories food and supplies to determine product usage
Checks food shipments, verifying invoices or delivery tickets.
Stores food and supplies following the Oakland Co.
Health Dept / USDA guidelines
Heats food and prepares side dishes according to planned menus; tests food for quality in flavor and appearance prior to serving
Serves proper food portions based on USDA guidelines for breakfast and lunch
Records required temperatures of freezers, coolers, cold and hot food
Operates and maintains kitchen equipment
Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen and serving area as set forth by SHA/MIOSHA and HACCP
Collects and records daily account deposits and food orders using a computerized system and secures daily deposit.
Communicates with students, parents and building staff with any changes or concerns pertaining to food service; promotes a positive work environment.
Trains food service staff to efficiently learn other tasks in the kitchen
Performs daily cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, pots, pans, utensils and work areas
Completes daily food production records, temperature logs and other reports as required by the Oakland Co.

USDA and MDE
Reports problems or accidents immediately to the manager or cook; building principal and the food service director
Present and conducts his/herself in a professional manner, clean and neat in appearance
Ensures strict confidentiality
Secures the kitchen at the end of the day
Attends professional development workshops or classes to keep current on food service trends and regulations
Other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director, kitchen manager, cook or building principal
Additional information and understanding of this position: While performing job duties, you may possibly work in very warm or cold temperatures, loud noise level; occasionally will walk on slippery surfaces, stand for long periods of time.
Other physical requirements of the job are pushing and lifting heavy cases of food, bending and reaching.
