Job Description The Brake Interface Design Release Engineer is responsible for the design and validation of brake tubes, brake hoses, and wheel speed sensors.
The position will include all aspects of component design to ensure all system and vehicle level functional objectives are met.
Job responsibilities include but not limited to: managing the release of the components, bill of material, CAD drawings, design verification plan, physical testing, management of suppliers, issuing change notices, vehicle build support, issue resolution, and PPAP.
Responsibilities Interface with Vehicle Engineering, suppliers, Purchasing, Quality and Assembly Plants.
Manage product performance to meet functional, cost and weight targets.
Perform product release and change management processes.
Direct packaging in vehicle environment Manage supplier and internal DVPR’s and DFMEA’s Support AQP, PSO, product launch and ongoing maintenance of carryover product.
Be responsible for design and release of designated components.
Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Automotive or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution or ABET equivalent.
Aptitude for mechanical engineering demonstrated by work experience or academic projects.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to interface with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications Minimum 1-5 years’ experience in brake design, development, and validation.
Strong GD&T skill set.
Proficiency in engineering disciplines, such as DVPR, DFMEA, etc.
Formal training/experience in problem solving, quality and reliability.
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green belt / Black Belt certification.
Experience in manufacturing brake components and vehicle assembly.
