Position: APPLICATION ENGINEERLocation: Novi, Michigan USAFroude Inc.
, a manufacturer of highly-engineered engine testing products, is seeking an application engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
The successful applicant will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and aspires to learn, grow and be a positive influence in a small and growing team.
We design, develop and manufacture engine dynamometer products and systems.
Our customers include Ford, GM, Rolls Royce, Volkswagen, Siemens, GE, Pratt & Whitney and a variety of other major US and international companies.
Froude is headquartered in Novi, Michigan and we have a manufacturing center in Worcester, United Kingdom.
The position reports to the Director of Customer Service and will be based in our Novi, Michigan location.
The overall purpose of this role is the commissioning of Froude and Go Power dynamometer systems, as well as the service, maintenance, and calibration of products in the field.
Overnight travel, including weekends, is expected.
Froude’s customers are placed geographically in most parts of the world and therefore the engineer must display a willingness to work anywhere (within any travel allowance agreement in force), given that any particular request is reasonable.
Responsibilities: • To provide commissioning, testing, training and service support at Froude and Go Power customer sites worldwide• To maintain good working relations with the Customers’ site personnel and representatives• Ensure that all Health and Safety Procedures and statutory requirements are complied with in-house and on-site in conjunction with the customer’s own policies• Proactively managing time and resources between jobs.

maintaining equipment calibration, self-training, site packs, and site reports• To obtain the customer’s written acceptance of the equipment on completion of commissioning, subject, if necessary, to a formal snagging list, prior to departure from the site• To ensure that all measurements called for are made with instrumentation maintained within the calibration system and to maintain the department’s calibration system• To ensure that all products perform in accordance with Froude’s technical specification and where a deviation is noted, to use all correct procedures to remedy such faults.
• To keep records of daily occurrences and compile visit reports on return using the appropriate forms• In the absence of formal site management, as the Senior Froude representative, to supervise site labor and sub-contractors involved on the contract for which they are responsible• Technical feedback and input to help provide accurate proposals, resolve site issues, improve product and service documentation• To create and issue site packs containing relevant site information, risk assessments and method statements• In-house assistance with customer returns and refurbishments• To take on as directed, in writing, site management roles • To safeguard and maintain in good order, all Company equipment and records, including items hired and vehicles allocated to them• To conduct themselves as befits a representative of the Company and to maintain contact with the department as directed by the Customer Service Director • To maintain good customer relationships and ensure customer satisfaction at all times • Revising departmental and on-site procedures to better suit customer requirements• To assist in the general running of the department and to perform any reasonable duties not covered in the foregoing as may be required by the CompanyWe are expanding, changing, and becoming a new company.
