The Driver/Test Specialist is responsible for driving vehicle on various test procedures as well as for setup and managing autonomous test events.
This includes autonomous vehicle test setup and teardown, maintaining radio, GPS and network communication, basic electrical and electronics and instrumentation diagnostics.
The Driver/Test Specialist will be expected to work and communicate with local employees, test request customers, engineering, and management.

Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED 5+ years of driving experience with a valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver’s license (will be required to obtain the Chauffer’s endorsement prior to accepting an offer).
Capable of working a 12-hour shift pattern Capable of maintaining a Tier II driver rating Proficient in utilizing MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Able and willing to learn new software applications Capable of using WebEx and SharePoint Even better, you may have… Preferred Qualifications Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering ASE certified mechanic or equivalent experience Two years’ experience in Proving Ground vehicle testing.

#LI-Onsite What you'll do… Proving Ground Testing Manually drive vehicles to support proving ground test procedures.
Support the setup and teardown of autonomous test equipment.
Maintain and perform daily inspections of autonomous equipment and vehicles.
Observe and report vehicle characteristics with respect to functional performance and features.
Support testing by moving and positioning vehicles for testing, fueling and functional support.
Update vehicle status in DURIS application.
Understand, install and remove all hardware related to autonomous testing.
Diagnose and troubleshoot simple mechanical and electrical issues related to equipment used for autonomous testing (actuators, connectors, linkages).
Operate the AVO base station.
Monitor autonomous vehicle pathing, cameras and error messaging while conducting autonomous testing.
Program and load new test mission and complete verification of routes prior to releasing to vehicle.
Complete the vehicle learning / tuning process before placing the vehicle on test.
Communicate with the AVO team as issues occur and lead implementation of Interim Containment Actions and Permanent Containment Actions.
Communicate with AVO Crew Leader on testing status, issues and resolution of issues to ensure a smooth transition to the next shift.
Work with Track Safety to safely close event areas for exclusive use.
Provide the daily status report of AVO test vehicles and the monthly operational metrics.
