Long Term Substitute Teacher for Students with Cognitive Impairments (SA)

Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
Special Education Endorsement: SA - Cognitive Impairment
Must be knowledgeable in strategies that will meet the academic, developmental, and functional needs of students
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, caregivers, legal guardians, staff and students.
The ability to provide direction and support to paraeducator staff
Provide instructional support for students to progress in their educational program
Maintain special education records in all areas of special education compliance
Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
Proven successful experience in working with students with disabilities
Responsibilities:
Comply with timelines, laws and regulations that relate to district, state, federal policies and procedures
Monitor and document student progress on IEP goals
Collaborate with all service providers, and other staff to develop instruction and support goals that are designed to meet the learning and behavioral needs of students
Develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior support plans
Compile and submit monthly Medicaid reports
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students
Participate in building meetings as directed by the building principal
The teacher will provide other services as directed by the Executive Director of Student Support Services and the assigned building principal.
The teacher will comply with Board of Education policies and all state/federal rules and regulations
