: US00313 Schedule type: Full Time Contract Type: Full Time WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR The General Counsel (“GC”) will be an integral part of Rheinmetall’s North American legal team.
The GC will be responsible for ensuring that the company business strategies, policies, and programs are developed and applied in full recognition of all legal implications and risks.
The GC will handle all legal affairs of the entities which are belonging to Rheinmetall’s Division Power Systems in North America and which are located in the United States of America (Michigan, Indiana, California and South Carolina) and Mexico (Celaya).
The GC will act as manager of the Legal Department while providing legal services as a practicing counsel and managing relationships and matters with outside counsel.
The GC will ensure that the company’s legal affairs are accomplished in an effective and efficient manner and that legal records are properly and securely maintained.
The GC will ensure maximum protection of the company’s legal rights and compliance with all laws and regulatory procedures.
Legal team members handle, prioritize and follow through on numerous projects simultaneously.
This provides excellent opportunities to learn the many aspects of the business and a great opportunity to work on a wide breadth of interesting and challenging matters with other highly motivated professionals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Serve as trusted advisor for all legal related topics for all internal stakeholders.
Lead the legal team in North America and assign and delegate tasks to other members of the legal team in North America.
Prepare and manage the departmental budget.
Draft, review and negotiate broad range of commercial agreements with our customers and suppliers, including but not limited to, Non-Disclosure Agreements, OEM terms and conditions, Master Services Agreements, subcontractor agreements, Full and Final Releases, licensing agreements etc.
Prepare resolutions and corporate forms.
Lead the defense in the organization in lawsuits/legal claims as well as in the prosecution of lawsuits on behalf of the organization against others.
Select and retain outside counsel as required.
Conduct, research and provide interpretations, opinions and recommendations on business operations issues and on legislation and regulations that may affect the organization.
Enforce adherence to legal guidelines and in-house policies to maintain the company’s legality and business ethics.
Provide hands-on counsel on legal topics to all levels of staff.
Interact with and provide counsel to related foreign and domestic executives, law departments and corporations.
Write organizational procedures and policies as required.
Prepare and conduct trainings for staff and management on legal topics to ensure adequate training levels or requirements, policies and processes.
Ensure compliance with federal and state laws/regulations in the United States of America and Mexico.
Provide legal counsel on labor and employment matters, including matters involving FMLA, ADA, discrimination, etc.
as well as gathering information for and drafting responses to agency complaints.
Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
Perform other duties that may be assigned.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must be a graduate of an accredited law school with five (5) to eight (8) years of related experience and be admitted to the state bar (preferably in Michigan or South Carolina).
HYBRID WORK MODEL: This position allows for up to 50% remote work.
TRAVEL: Up to 50% (mostly domestic with occasional international travel).
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Requires a valid driver’s license and valid passport.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and keyboard, a calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc.
