_The mission of the Lake Orion DDA is to enhance the economic potential and preserve the historical character of the Lake Orion DDA District, __*the*__*heart and hub of the Orion Community*__, through promotional activities and an organizational structure that focuses on community involvement with local businesses, residents, and other stakeholders.
_ *Job Title: DDA Director * *Supervised by: DDA Board Chair * *Supervises: Part Time Staff Members and Contractors* *Position Description:* Under the general supervision of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board via its elected Chairperson, the DDA Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, directing, coordinating, and performing of the activities associated with the Village’s DDA Plan and the Main Street program.
The oversight activities are to be done with an emphasis on downtown revitalization within the context of historic preservation.
The Director functions with considerable independence in job-related activities and is held accountable for results.
The Director has responsibility for a broad range of functions including but not limited to: * Implementation of the DDA Tax Increment Financing and Development Plan, * Amendment 4 (DDA Plan) adopted January 2020 * Implementation and accreditation of the Lake Orion Main Street program * Representation of the program within the community as well as regionally and nationally The current focus of the DDA Board and staff is: 1.
Lake Orion Gateway Project – developing the former Lake Orion lumberyard property into additional parking, dedicated event space, and additional Downtown Commercial space 2.
Developing a fundraising workplan 3.
Building a broad volunteer base focusing on opportunities in: * Oakland University * Lake Orion High School (Julia Darymple) 4.
America in Bloom Partnerships and collaboration (in preparation for American in Bloom National Symposium to be hosted in Orion Twp Fall of 2025).
Partners include, but are not limited to: * Orion Twp America in Bloom Team * Piechnik’s Garden Gate * Scouting Troops and other service organizations * Adopt a Garden Ambassador Program using America in Bloom criteria and MSU extension Master Gardener.
DDA Director Job Description *Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications* The requirements listed herein are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities and minimum qualifications necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
