Working conditions:
Full time
Monday- Friday (available Saturday and Sunday)
40 hours – 5 days a week (hours may vary)
10% travel required
Purpose:
To provide the best quality of life and engaging daily activities to residents as a group or on an individual basis.
Meeting physically, socially, mentally, emotionally and spiritually and needs of the residents.
Present a safe, positive, caring and professional image at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, schedule and implement quality activities
Prepare the monthly activities calendar.
Update the activity board.
Maintain required files for life enrichment documentation
Hire, train, schedule and maintain a qualified staff
Recruit and coordinate volunteers
Budget
Current and new resident activity assessments.
Care plan for resident activity levels.
Create and maintain relationships with residents and their families.
Resident council meetings
Schedule, plan and prepare for special events and resident outings.
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare the newsletter.
Purchase supplies as needed.
Thank you cards and other correspondence
Ensuring equipment is functioning properly.
Mail delivery for resident banking services
Community relations
Perform other duties as directed by the Executive Director.
Orders flowers for new resident, birthdays, etc.
Supervisory Responsibilities
In charge of the Life Engagement coordinators, assistants and volunteers.
Educational Requirements
Degree in Recreational Therapy, specialty courses certified locally and nationally and experience in long term care.
Certificates, licenses, registrations
Your state certification
Work Experience
Prior experience in planning and executing daily activities and long term care plans.
Have had experience working and communicating with dementia, Alzheimer’s, handicapped patients and worked with a geriatric population.
Supervisory experience a must.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively with residents, staff, customers on a one-on-one basis or in a group setting.
Must be able to speak, read and write using Basic English skills.
Physical Demands
Physical work may include lifting up to 50 lbs.
, stooping, pulling, carrying, twisting, bending, walking, pushing and standing to perform all aspects of the job on a day-to-day basis.
Additional Information
Must be able to work in a team player environment, multi-task, detailed orientated person, organized and follow through skills.
Must have a high level of communication skills to interact with residents, families and staff.
