REQUIREMENTS:
General knowledge of acting, directing, and producing.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Theatre experience preferred.
Teaching certification preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communicates with the MIFA Theatre Committee and the MIFA governing organization.
Controls and oversees funds in the MIFA one-act account.
Schedules a parent meeting to discuss the MIFA program, fundraising plans, goals, and expectations.
The cost of running the program is approximately $15,000-$20,000.
Reviews scripts considered for performance.
Communicates with publisher regarding cutting and performance rights to play scripts.
Creates audition materials and establishes protocol for audition/interview process.
Creates rehearsal schedule (most rehearsals are held after school between 2:30 p.
m.
– 5:30 p.
m.
)
Coordinates all design aspects of the theatrical piece, which should be designed entirely by students.
Procures materials for the scenery, props, costumes, make-up, portable lighting, and audio.
Coordinates transportation to and from festivals, which may involve parent drivers, buses, and rental trucks.
Arranges rental and return of trucks for transporting set pieces, costumes, and any other necessary items to and from the festival.
Plan and execute dinner theater with parent volunteers.
A raffle or auction may take place at the dinner.
Oversee all volunteers, assuring tasks are being performed in a timely manner, goals are being reached and questions are answered.
Oversee and supervise Children’s play including picking a script, arranging purchase of scripts and performance rights, scheduling auditions, rehearsals, and performances.

Communicate with District elementaries regarding in-school performances of the Children’s play.
Attends all performances of the Children’s play.
Attends all One-Act play festivals, accompanying students.
One-Act festivals include the District Festival, Regional Festival and potentially the State Festival.

Coordinates hotel reservations for State Festival.
Directors must chaperone and secure at least two other adult chaperones during the entire stay.
At least one adult must accompany students on the bus.
Responsible for the supervision of students at all times before, during and after rehearsals, events and performances.
