*JOB SUMMARY* Responsible and accountable for the direct care of residents as directed by the administrator.
Performs other duties as assigned in meeting the needs of the facility as listed below.
*PRIMARY JOB DUTIES* _(Any position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the examples include all of the tasks that may be performed.
)_ 1) Resident Care Responsibilities a.
Follows universal precautions.
b.
Assists with feeding if needed.
c.
Hygiene - bathes residents, changes occupied and unoccupied beds, performs diaper changes and perinea skin care.
d.
Performs safety checks to include fall precautions.
e.
Ambulates, transports, and positions residents with proper body mechanics.
f.
Psychosocial interventions - provides divisional activities, comforts and supports resident/family.
g.
Prepares and serves meals as required.
h.
Assist in meeting physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each resident.
i.
Handle emergency situations appropriately according to procedure manual.
j.
Performs daily tasks according to schedule.
k.
Know whereabouts of residents at all times both in the home and in the community by preforming 2-hour checks.
l.
Medication administration to residents.
m.
Available for mandatory stay when required.
2) Communication a.
Informs Manager and Resident Family/Designated Representative of any/all pertinent information regarding changes in resident’s condition or care.
Note: This applies to all resident falls regardless of the perceived impact of the fall.
b.
Effectively relates to and interacts with residents, families, visitors and other staff.
c.
Records observations and care interventions on appropriate forms.
3) House Responsibilities a.
Communicates with Manager/DCS supply inventory.
b.
Maintains clean and orderly resident environment.
c.
Removes, labels, and reports any malfunctioning equipment.
d.
Performs daily tasks according to schedule.
4) Personal Responsibilities a.
Demonstrates ability to give care cooperatively with co-workers.
b.
Keeps Management or Leader informed when tasks are completed: uses any unstructured time to assist other staff and or for general housekeeping.
c.
Attends staff meetings.
d.
Actively participates in quality management and continuing education activities.
Updates and maintains knowledge, skills and competencies related to age of resident population.
5) Meal Planning Responsibilities a.
Prepare food items in advance for subsequent shifts and snack times.
b.
Prepares and serves meals as required.
c.
Identify special dietary needs of residents as specified in resident care agreements, assessments, or physician orders and incorporate into weekly or monthly planned menus.
d.
Periodically compile and review resident preference list.
e.
Informs Manager and/or DCS of any/all pertinent information regarding changes in resident’s menu.
f.
Communicates inventory needs and status, maintains ongoing inventory needs.
g.
Communicates any environmental conditions that may be potentially hazardous to food service preparation.
h.
Communicates with Manager/DCS supply inventory.
i.
Maintains clean and orderly kitchen, equipment, and food storage areas.
j.
Removes, labels, and reports any malfunctioning equipment.
k.
Follows all food service and preparation practices established and required by the Michigan Department of Public Health.
*JOB SPECIFICATION* 1) Education: High School Diploma, GED, and Certificate related field for elderly care.
2) Age: Not less than 18 years of age.
3) Health: Negative TB test results and negative drug test (Our company does random drug testing).
4) Credentials: CPR and First Aid certifications required.
5) Skills: Basic literacy skills; good command of English language demonstrated through verbal and written communication.
6) Training: Shall be competent in the following areas: a.
Reporting requirements b.
First aid & Cardiopulmonary resuscitation c.
Procedural Manual d.
Personal care supervision and protection e.
Safety and fire prevention g.
Prevention and containment of communicable diseases h.
Resident rights i.
Medication administration 7) Physical effort: Ability to perform required duties without physical restrictions.
-Must be able to see, hear, walk, speak, read and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation, and care for oneself with no difficulty.
-Must be able to independently lift up to 55 pounds -Must be able to move or reposition residents of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s).
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $17.
