Job Description AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Environmental Scientist in our Novi, Michigan office to assist with a variety of tasks on projects including data management, site investigation, and remediation.
This position is expected to begin in April 2024.
The successful candidate will assist with gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data in both the field and office settings.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: The field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air and soil vapor sample collection; geological logging and interpretation; and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies.
Field work will be required, and it will include travel that requires overnight stays near project locations.
The office activities will involve preparation of investigation reports.
Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.
Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.
Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or a related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.
Valid U.
S.
Driver’s License is required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to perform logging of subsurface strata and collection of samples while supervising the advancement of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells.
Ability to demonstrate a primary technical role in multiple site characterizations, subsurface investigations, and remediation projects at various client sites.
Understand and assist with the development of conceptual site models.
Ability to collect and evaluate environmental data in the field and interpret data in an office setting.
Ability to prepare investigation reports and help coordinate preparation of drawings.
Possess technical report writing skills.
Provide independent leadership of self and teams in the field.
Demonstrate experience in contractor oversight.
Possess a keen understanding of hazard recognition during environmental investigations and remediation projects.
Proficient with basic computer programs and the MS Office suite.
Additional Information Relocation assistance and/or per diem is not available for this position.
This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Novi, Michigan.
The selected candidate must be available to work in Novi, Michigan on a scheduled basis.
Candidate will submit to medical surveillance screening upon hire.
Offered rate of compensation (Michigan locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
The salary range for this position is $43,480.
10 - $59,785.
