The City of Novi seeks to hire a Deputy City Assessor.
This position assists the City Assessor in the management of all functions and operations of the Assessing Department that are mandated by Michigan State law and by the City of Novi Charter.
This individual manages the Assessing Department in the City Assessor's absence.
Among other duties, the Deputy City Assessor may be called upon to:
Facilitate the assessment appeal process through the Boards of Review.
Process and track value changes throughout the year (BOR, MTT, STC, DoT, Assessor).
Reconcile and ensure the assessment roll is in balance after changes.
Assist the Assessor in managing assessment appeals before the Michigan Tax Tribunal.
Oversee and conduct lot splits, combinations, and land divisions.
Train and supervise appraisers with same.
Assist Assessor in training staff.
Assist the Assessor in the county equalization process.
Conduct studies as necessary to ensure fair and accurate assessments.
The Deputy City Assessor shall possess at a minimum, a MAAO (3) certification from the Michigan State Tax Commission.
Five years experience in assessing (or equivalent complex valuation experience) and at least five years of administrative and/or supervisory experience.
An Associate's Degree or equivalent of certifications, education, knowledge, and experience required.
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Compensation & Benefits: $83,669 - $100,403, based on qualifications
