Prep Cook, Kitchen Set Up and light cooking
Thank you for applying to West End Kitchen and Bar! We are looking for a hard-working prep cook to be responsible for setting up workstations in the kitchen and preparing ingredients for the cooking process.
The prep cook is required to perform basic cooking duties, monitor stock levels, and take on culinary tasks as they arise.
To be a successful prep cook, you should understand and be willing to comply with food and sanitation guidelines and regulations, be quick and diligent, and be willing to improve on the job.
We are looking for someone to work hand in hand with our chef to create an amazing and prepared kitchen.
A top-notch prep cook should be able to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:
$15 - $24 hourly
Responsibilities:
Setting up and sanitizing workstations.
Following prep lists created by chefs.
Measured ingredients and seasonings and prepared cooking ingredients such as soup stock to be used in the cooking process.
Preparing simple dishes, such as entrees or salads.
Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible.
Assisting chefs in preparing food and attending to any culinary tasks that arise.
Distributing plates to the wait staff to be served, cleaning plates for dishwashing, and preparing takeaway packages for customers.
Supervising food and cooling room temperatures.
Helping to get the restaurant set up and prepared
Helping to get the kitchen prepared for evening service
Accepting or rejecting ingredients from suppliers.
Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen.
Helping with inventory counts and possibly ordering
Helping to make salads, expo, cook on the line etc.
Keeping pars on food items
Qualifications:
Experience as a prep cook may be advantageous.
A great team player who understands the value of teamwork
Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays.
Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment.
A positive attitude and restaurant forward thinking
Organizational skills are a must
