Job Description: GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the identification and pursuit of strategic business opportunities, collaborations, partnerships, alliances, and other activities which promote the company’s family of products, services and line of business.
Evaluates and manages new strategic business development, marketing campaigns, and branding opportunities.
As Director of Strategy and Business Development, will have overall control and responsibility for defining, planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and approving changes to methods and practices for company strategy, marketing, and business development.
Exercises supervision in terms of expenses, methods of practice, and required staffing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Sets and executes vision and direction of company’s overall marketing strategy and business development pursuits.
As an executive leader, responsible for performing multiple functions, across multiple organizations, and geographic marketplaces in support of company’s growing business portfolio.
Develops and implements strategic plans and objectives for the organization in alignment with corporate strategy; oversees direction and approves tactical administrative or operational policies and resource allocation decisions to ensure achievement of objectives.
Develops strategic plans to ensure successful implementation of action plans and objectives where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the industry, company, competitive environment, technology, and economic or social implications of organization activities.
Participates in development of corporate methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
Regularly and expertly interacts with corporate and customer executives, and/or major customers.
Interactions frequently involve highly-visible activities such as speaking to or negotiating business opportunities with industry customers, government representatives and other officials; influencing other executives and/or academics, lobbying regulators or policy makers and representing the organization on matters of great significance to the organization’s business strategy and pursuits.
Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and approving changes to methods and practices in support of company’s marketing and business development strategies to include but not limited to marketing/advertising, industry branding and presence, trade show attendance/exhibition, customer exposure/relationship strengthening, and government/DoD influencing .
Will be expected to interact with and/or manage a team of high-level and/or multi-discipline individual contributors in support of business pursuits, proposals, and other supporting activities.
Reports directly to Senior VP, with frequent interaction and consultation with corporate C-level executives, such as President and CEO.
Provides leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementing of strategic marketing and business pursuit objectives.
Oversees market analysis, monitors competitive activity within industry, and identifies customer needs.
Deliver support to company and/or corporate personnel on issues where analysis of market conditions or business data requires in-depth knowledge of industry and/or organizational objectives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has direct supervisory responsibilities.
Experience and Skills: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the Essential Job Functions, including the necessary communication and computer skills.
Communicate and interact effectively with all customers, government, corporate peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies at all times.
Ability to work in fast-paced environments with relevant experience in the Aerospace and Defense sector.
Knowledge and ability to oversee and provide high-level with government and industry contracting and sub-contracting activities.
Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to infiltrate and network to grow strong relationships throughout the aerospace and defense market to include prime weapon system contractor executives, business development leads, program managers, contract managers, and technical teams for advanced and legacy programs.
Possess the knowledge, ability, and skills to infiltrate and network to grow strong relationships within the Department of Defense to include Senior Executive Service civilians, military leadership, program offices, and research & development organizations.
Maintain competition sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government standards.
Have a willingness and ability to learn and utilize company technology for company required purposes, including training, reviewing policies and procedures, benefits enrollment and changes, and more.
Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed instructions in response to proposals, contracting, and other business processes.
Ability to maintain expertise, skills, and abilities as they pertain to industry, market, technology, and specific strategic tasks and business pursuits.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or minimum of 8 years and a Master's degree; or 15 years equivalent work experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Office environment.
Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones).
